A great loss: Milton Friedman passes away

One of the greatest supporters of liberty ever to live, the Nobel Prize winning economist Milton Friedman, has passed away, at the age of 94.

For those of you who don't know about Milton Friedman, I strongly suggest you buy and read "Free to Choose". It's a powerful book, written in easy to understand language, that explains why freedom works better than statism.

It's the book that really changed the worldview of former Estonian Prime Minister Mart Laar, causing him to implement economic reforms including a flat tax in Estonia, after which many other countries in Eastern Europe followed his example.

Milton Friedman and his wife Rose were also the earliest prominent supporters of school choice and Social Security Reform.

And most important for my day-to-day activities as a trader, Friedman (along with Leo Melamed of the CME) was critical in the creation of financial futures markets.

The world has lost a truly great man.

    In Liberty!

It's sad to see Milton go. I loved his mix of economics, preaching libertarianism, and trying to come up with practical solutions that could be put in place today to bring us a better world.
