America's dumbing-down continues

Just as socialists don’t understand that their policies can’t make everyone rich but they can make everyone poor, this remarkable story shows how left-wing approaches to teaching can only do great harm to our nation in the interest of “reducing the gap"…particularly when the “gap” is not caused by the system that is being changed to address it.

It's CA. I am not amazed. So, a "voluntary" program where the kids make time to spend either before or after school needs to be put down because not enough black or latino kids aren't attending. So, punish them all instead of better informing those that are attending of the benefits. Not shocked.

Neither am I shocked with the state of our education system in this country when it is run by a union. Promote mediocrity, increase administration costs through more employees, and provide underfunded pensions with ever increasing costs. Sound familiar Detroit? The only problem is that this scam was always fully funded by the taxpayer. California is the worst and only getting moreso. Break the teacher's union and make teacher's earn their pay. Then you will see your salaries increase as those that get results get paid of it. Insetad of being guaranteed a job because you have been working for a long period of time (tenure) you earn it from results. It's an amazing cncept that has been used in the private sector forever. I'm done and my brain hurts.
