Americans Take No Attacks for Granted

Bush: Al Qaeda attack on West Coast thwarted

Can you remember the last time you were really sick? Unless you currently feel that way, it is difficult now to remember how much you suffered. We expect health in our lives, so when we have it, we are rarely grateful for it. Terrorism fits the same bill. More than four years have past since the biggest terrorist attack on United States soil occurred. According to recent polls, “87% (of Americans polled) said they expect the U.S. to be hit by another terrorist attack inside our country”

Unfortunately, they may still be right. Regardless, we should applaud the fact that law enforcement and government officials have thwarted all planned attacks in the U.S. since 9/11. Many Americans believe the Bush administration has bungled the war on terror and Democrats claim they can do a better job. A one-hundred percent success rate will make the Democrats task a difficult one if they get the opportunity.

It's not worth it Mike.
I'd rather take the occasional hit than have to suffer the indignity of invasive and palliative TSA searches, accept phone taps on my international phone calls, or have the airspace over my nation's capital closed to me.
Best response to terror is not to abridge the rights of citizens, but look the terrorists in the eyes, tell them that we will hunt them to the ends of the world, and continue to live as free people.
And accept a certain amount of damage. We all must die at some point anyway -- isn't it better to live with dignity in the meantime?
Or do we want to become Europeans?
Freak.
