Cash for clunkers crashes as people get their money for nothing
[Update: On Friday, the House passed a measure to divert $2 billion from the Energy Department to the “Cash for Clunkers” program. It faces more of an uphill battle in the Senate. The only way the response to a program would be this big is if it is “mispriced". In other words, the government is giving away far too much money. Trade in your POS vehicle and it rains money – other people’s money – on your head, thanks to The One.]
Yesterday afternoon, the government suspended the “Cash for Clunkers” program as its tremendous popularity caused it to blow through the $1 billion allocated to it in the program’s first week.
“Much faster than who expected?” you might ask. Not me.
When you offer people far more money for something than that something is worth, of course they’ll come in droves to take it. And in that sense the “success” of the program is really a disaster.
It means that our government has, in one week, funneled $1 billion from taxpayers to people who owned old inefficient “clunkers.” It’s not extremely unreasonable to believe that the average “clunker” owner is not in the top few percent of taxpayers – the people who pay most of the income tax. Therefore, Cash for Clunkers is simply a $1 billion welfare program designed to funnel net another massive slug of taxpayer money to Government Motors. Is it any wonder that Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow is asking Congress for more money for the program?
Let’s do a little math on this. If someone turned in a 16-mpg car and bought a 24-mpg car, he’d have to drive 12,800 miles using $2.50/gallon gas to save $4,000. That wouldn’t be too bad a payback – if only the driver were spending his own money. But no matter how you slice it, it’s a raw deal for taxpayers. If the driver did drive the 12,800 per year, that driver would annually pay $300 less in federal fuel tax and (based on the national average) and $435 less in state fuel tax, adding another $735 to the cost to taxpayers and specifically depriving our transportation infrastructure of necessary funding. (Not to mention that the more efficient car will likely encourage its owner to drive more, offsetting the pollution benefits which some proponents of this program claim and causing more wear and tear on the roads.)
The other idiocy of Cash for Clunkers parallels liberals’ belief in Keynesian economics: The idea of a “shot in the arm” for the car industry simply means that demand that would have been spread out over several years is instead front-loaded. Sure, it will make the sales and earnings look good for a quarter, but it will make future sales and earnings look worse than they otherwise would have.
“Cash for Clunkers” was a terrible, obviously redistributionist program from the start. It’s screaming “success” should frighten anyone who pays taxes as it means nothing more than piling more debt on to future generations in order to pad the UAW’s coffers today.

The worst part of this program is the blinding conflict of interest that noone is talking about. First the government buys more than half of GM through bailouts and share purchases, then it spends taxpayer money to inflate GM revenues through the clunker program (while they own less of the other car makers, the clunker program was designed to be car-maker-welfare-independent). Talk about stock value manipulation; where's the SEC when the government itself is doing the pillaging?

How much money did General Motors pay to sponsor the Buick Open this week?
Are there any pictures of GM's hospitality tents out there?
Were GM executives at Warwick Hills on company time?
If government "leaders" in Congress going to come down on the marketing and entertainment expenses of private businesses, where do they stand on those same expenses when it comes to their companies?

Will there be a 'General Machiavellian' auto mortgage bubble if this idiotic scheme continues? When 'clunkers' kill the the Tonka cars, will the czar clones triple insurance when they discover they are unsafe? Should this regime offer 'end of life' counseling for those who buy them? The lighter the midgets are made, the more oil they consume. Will there thus be a VAT inversely proportional with weight? Do any of the clowns understand the laws of thermodynamics and that no one has ever devised a perpetual motion machine? As we devolve toward the wooden age, will buyers of muscle driven vehicles be assessed a 'metabolic tax' for the estimate of CO2 exhaled? Only Bill Clinton will be exempt, 'cause he never inhales.

Has the Axelrod's snoop site crashed?
08/14/09 @ 07:16:57 am
not sure what you mean...about the "snoop site"
08/15/09 @ 03:32:23 pm
I cannot believe you haven't heard of 'Axelrod's WH snitch site. It's been in operation nearly two weeks. The website is gathering a list of antagonists of Obama's agenda: cap and trade, socialized medicine, and the rest. Like Abu ben Adam, my name is first on the list.

I had heard of the snitch e-mail, flag@whitehouse.gov, but not a whole snitch web site! What's the link?
08/16/09 @ 07:48:06 pm
Rossputin: I shudder at you pseudonym. Snitch site = 'white house web site' in google. Click on 'contact us'. You will be asked to identify your stats and your URL After you pass through the gauntlet, you will find the comment box, but there is a word limit. If you have a long message, you will have to register again and send the rest. I have sent several messages annotated with parts numbered with one to six installments. Because of my verbiage, they no longer welcome there. Despite all the hoops I must hurdle, the memos are rejected with the lame excuse that I had not completed the entry form. They lied. I DID NOT omit anything required--1st amendment deleted. I'll figure a way in. I'll try a Micky handle this time at flag@whitehouse.gov.

Have any of you tried recently to send a message to Axelrod’s snoop site? Earlier this week, I was blocked with an error message stating ‘this page is temporarily whatever…’
I changed my screen name and they accepted my memos as of yesterday. When the word count exceeds the query box limit, I had to break it into several increments to abide that parameter. No problem. Today, the site accepts as many words as I stuff into the box now. However, after the notation is sent, the site ‘thanks me for the memo. Great, er, ah, not so fast. When I toggle the ‘resend’ button returning me to the comment box, a yellow ribbon states the ‘message was not processed’ for lack of completion of the ’subject’ box. I ALWAYS check that box. Nonetheless, I repeat it and have noted my input remains as it was before I submitted it. Ergo, this is their ploy to blockade information they choose not to read.

Have any of you encountered the Rorschach test before you are enabled to submit comments in Axelrod’s wacky wiki flag site? The blots are impossible to decipher. I was so frustrated for so many failures to register my plaints, I made several photos to verify that I had accurately done so. My messages were constantly rejected because I was accused for failing to translate their goofy graffiti.
Try accessing the ’site’. When the gov tires of your tirades, you will be challenged with the gauntlet of undecipherable ink blots. The scribbled ‘art work’ appears to be the product of the three benighted monkeys. In fact, the ploy smacks of the CIA caveat known as ‘plausible denial’.

After the imbroglio of NLE-09 was done, I warned it was merely a modest skirmish in the ongoing 'cruel war'. Information overload choked the the snooper sites of the bight house. Despite the outcries from PILMOA, we are now identified as 'domestic terrorists'. Our names are now on a dossier on Axelrod-Emanuel's read-only mega hard drive. Another quote:
In Flanders Fields:
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

This is a comment to Boris in Lynn Sekulow's blog site. It may knot your gut:
Dear Boris,
You seem to be an enigma. You quote scripture then deride those who defend others. Yes, the prophesies cannot be amended, but that does not mean we should be silent in the presence of tyranny. If you are a Christian, you know what we must do during these last days. The Agabus Agenda is all about the three W's: Watch, warn, and witness. We look for the dangerous signs. We warn the people. We witness boldly for the Lord that all men can receive His grace.
I was once one a man in a 'white coat'. I am now a wacko for the Lord.
Paul's words to his flock at Corinth (4:10 KJV): "We are fools for Christ's sake, but ye are wise in Christ; ye are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honorable, but we are despised."
NLT: "Our dedication to Christ makes us look like fools, but you are so wise! We are weak, but you are so powerful! You are well thought of, but we are laughed at."
I would rather be a fool for Christ than a man of wizened wisdom of this wacko world. LOL now. Weep later.
Pray for them who defend US against tyranny and hope the peacekeepers will come before the thugs of Ameri-Corp silence all of US.

Another epistle to the trolls in WADC. Are we rowing the same boat? Are you dispatching memos to them, or am I alone? You better do it soon before BOHICA shuts all these blopg sites.
Sunstein should ride into the sunset:
If my town council mandates that I tether my dog outside and a 'neighbor' believes it is abusive to the animal, can he instigate a suit against me for that 'crime'? Will the town become a co-defendant? If such a litigation is legitimized, will the ACLU get file a 'class action' suit for millions of dogs and cats as plaintiffs? Should such a precedent be established, could a veterinarian also be in jeopardy if he 'puts down' a doomed canine or cat? Before the vet injects the hemlock extract, will he bark or meow 'end of life counseling'?
To protect themselves from such idiocy, will pet owners release their animals into society? Will the canine cops use 'humane' measures to control them? When 'man's best friends' are allowed to roam and forage in the neighborhoods, what will they eat? Will our beloved 'Dukes' and 'Spots' eat garbage or children? When babies become staple for feral animals, will Ken-L-Ration sue the government for 'infringement' of their income?
After six defectors*wasted their votes with 54 demoncrats, GDI Joe said:
"Mr. President, as chairman of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, I’m pleased to both express my unqualified support for the nomination of Cass Sunstein to lead the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, which was familiarly known in government circles as OIRA, and also to favorably report the nomination from our Homeland Security Committee. This nomination was considered and reported out by the committee on May 20th, that was almost 3 1/2 months ago. But, unfortunately, Professor Sunstein’s nomination has been the subject of unnecessary holds and delays. And this is an important position that needs to be filled. So, I want to thank Majority Leader Reid for bringing this important nomination to a vote. Obviously there is a filibuster and we will now need to invoke cloture so that Professor Sunstein can get on with the important job that President Obama has nominated him to do for our country and each one of us."
* Non democrats: Lieberman, Lugar, Collins, Snowe, Gregg, and Voinovich.
Obviously, the above is ludicrous hyperbole, but it is not beyond the limits of this imbecilic regime. The Heinz 57 + 3 gang that affirmed this rabid cur should be 'put down' with Sunstein for their 'crime against humanity'. AWL

Cap and tax:
Everyone has seen the bumper sticker: 'If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will own them'. Soon there will a new banner on the backsides of trucks and beetles: 'If CO2 is banned, only terrorists will are allowed to emit it'.
Huh? What idiot would paste such a tag on his wagon? Read and understand these quotes from experts:
“In a submission last year to the United Nations, the Australian government said that in 2003 wildfires released 190 million tons of CO2-equivalent, about one-third of the nation's total annual greenhouse gas emissions.”
--Source: redOrbit Staff & Wire Reports
“Interest in terrestrial carbon sequestration has increased in an effort to explore opportunities for climate change mitigation. Carbon sequestration is the process by which atmospheric carbon dioxide is taken up by trees, grasses, and other plants through photosynthesis and stored as carbon in biomass (trunks, branches, foliage, and roots) and soils. The sink of carbon sequestration in forests and wood products helps to offset sources of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere, such as deforestation, forest fires, and fossil fuel emissions.”
--USDA
“According to the researchers, the phenomenon of forest fires is difficult to assess because fires are still poorly represented in global models which until now have not had a large consideration. This is in spite of the fact that 12 years have passed since the signing of the Kyoto Protocol which also globally attempts to control forest fires because they have shown high contribution to CO2 emissions which, in fact, is more than the combined emissions of all transport systems on earth (vehicles, ships, and aircraft).”
--Via Science Agogo
“Smoke caused by the fires will create pollution and military forces could be tied up fighting fires. The report noted that U.S. military forces in Iraq or Afghanistan “could even be recalled” as occurred following hurricane Katrina, which did not occur.”
“Imagine if, after all the losses caused by such an event, a jihadist organization were to claim responsibility for (starting) the forest fires,” the writer said. “You can hardly begin to imagine the level of the fear that would take hold of people in the United States, in Europe, in Russia, and in Australia.”
--Terrorist 'chatter' heard on the web by Homeland Security, 2008
1.How many years have I warned. 'it's about the borders, dummies'?
2.How often did I tell you the fires are largely terrorist caused?
3.Did you ever respond?

Here's more verbiage to the 'powerz':
Stuff you gotta' know about the facts you tend to ignore: Two articles by a credible writer and an expert of weather change addressing: 1) The impact of forest fires in our environment. 2) The suppression of information by true scientists invalidating so called 'global warming'.
1) From Southern Oregon's News Source, August 12, 2007:
“. . . According to the Plant-A-Tree-Today Foundation, the average human being living in one of the developed countries produces 9.7 metric tons of carbon dioxide annually.
“. . . about 480 trees per person in order to remain carbon neutral.
“. . . a forest fire involving primarily conifers will produce approximately 13 million metric tonnes of carbon dioxide for each hectacre (2.7 acres) burned. Sen. Marie Cantwell (D-Wash.) stated that more than 9 million acres (3.6 million hectacres) of forest burned in 2006. An additional 2.6 million hectacres burned in Canada, according to Envirozine.
“. . . forest fires in the United States and Canada produced over 80.6 million metric tons of carbon dioxide.
2) The myth of global warming: Ever hear of Alan Carlin? Probably not, and that is the way the Obama Administration wants to keep it. Dr. Carlin is an Environmental Protection Agency veteran who recently wrote a damaging report, warning that the science behind climate change was questionable at best, and that we shouldn’t pass laws that will hurt American families and hobble the nation’s economy based on incomplete information.
Despite its promise to put science above politics, the Administration has suppressed Carlin’s report, banned him from writing or speaking about climate change, told him to forget about attending any meetings that addressed his main job function—climate change—and gave him a new assignment: updating a grants database. One supposes that, by dedicating its distinguished scientists to data-entry tasks, Obama’s EPA is able to free up true-believing interns to do its research.
Until recently, Dr. Carlin’s assignment was to research climate change issues for the agency. As part of this responsibility, he prepared a 98-page report earlier this year questioning the need for the agency to regulate CO2. His main argument—buttressed by citation after citation of peer-reviewed science—was that the agency’s earlier argument for regulating was based on incomplete science that ignored much more recent (and contrary) studies.
EPA responded by burying the report. As for Dr. Carlin himself, he was put under a strict gag order by superiors. They forbade him from writing, speaking or e-mailing about global warming to anyone outside his group at EPA. Now that his comment has been leaked (available here), the truth can come out.
We spoke to an embattled Dr. Carlin on the phone today, and, though he does fear losing his job because of his opinion, he has the strength of his beliefs. He told us that in 40 years of working for the government, he can’t remember any other time such pressure has been put on him. But you can hear in his voice that Dr. Carlin, who got his undergraduate degree in physics from CalTech and his PhD in economics from MIT, is not easily silenced.
“I’ve been involved in public policy since 1966 or 1967,” he said. “There’s never been anything exactly like this. I am now under a gag order.”
As for travel, “it’s been made abundantly clear that I was not to attend anything to do with climate change.” When he did attend a conference in Washington that was open to the public, he was reprimanded by a superior who told Dr. Carlin that he had “shown poor judgment” in daring to ask a question.
He does maintain a good sense of humor. He told us he had just been interviewed on radio and that the reporter had said “we hear you’ve been fired” to which he responded, “I haven’t heard that myself, but your information may be better than mine.”
That Dr. Carlin’s fate should befall any civil servant is frightening. It is doubly frightening when the person is a respected scientist who is simply trying to do his job when it is needed most. At the same time EPA is looking to regulate CO2 as a health hazard, Congress is considering an even more intrusive climate change bill based on many of the same erroneous and out-dated assumptions identified in Carlin’s report.
House leadership ramrodded the Waxman-Markey bill through on Friday, with virtually no meaningful debate allowed. The Heritage Foundation estimates the legislation will inflict massive damage to a U.S. economy already on the ropes. It passed with only a seven vote margin. One wonders if it would have survived, if countervailing voices like Dr. Carlin had been allowed to be heard.
The EPA gag order—made clear in the emails between Dr. Carlin and his superior (available here), also demonstrates that President Obama’s promise to put truth above politics has now been forgotten.
You can read the comment that your government did not want you to see, all 98 pages of it, here. In the executive summary, on page V, he clearly refers to the supposed relationship between carbon dioxide and “greenhouse gases.”
As of the best information I currently have, the GHG/CO2 hypothesis as to the cause of global warming, which this Draft TSD supports, is currently an invalid hypothesis from a scientific viewpoint because it fails a number of critical comparisons with available observable data. Any one of these failings should be enough to invalidate the hypothesis; the breadth of these failings leaves no other possible conclusion based on current data.
If this comment was proven to be suppressed, it could force the EPA to dismiss the entire comment review period and start over.
Dr. Carlin’s problems are far from unique. He is one of many who pay the price of Al Gore’s insistence that “the science is settled” on climate change, that we should no longer debate the issue. The media has happily gone along with this suppression. News reports present the questionable relationship between carbon dioxide and climate change as absolute fact. Skeptics are derided as “deniers” and are treated in the same way Galileo was by the Inquisition for suggesting the Earth revolved around the Sun. Today in President Obama’s America, a modern-day Galileo has been told to shut up and go away.
What is the rationale to punish innocent Americans for crimes committed by our enemies? If the last bastion of democracy is destroyed, to where will the cowards go?

From AmericanVision.org's specific eviction notice to legislators, 8 Oct 09. The notice could be easily modified to apply to the chameleon and thief:
December 16, 2009 marked the 236th Anniversary of the Boston Tea Party. On that date in 1773, a patriotic group of Colonists (disguised as Native Americans) boarded ships loaded with Tea from England and dumped it into the Boston Harbor. What became know as "The Boston Tea Party" was the culmination of a resistance movement throughout Colonial America against Britain for levying taxes without a consenting vote from the colonies' own elected representatives.
236 years later, we have a Congress (and President) who blatantly thumb their noses at the U.S. Constitution and ignore the pleas of the vast majority of American Citizens. Just like our forefathers who threw Tea overboard in Boston, we've identified 9 main reasons why the current Congress should be thrown out in the next election. We want our house back, so we've set a goal to send one million eviction notices to The House of Representatives and the Senate before they adjourn this year. We even have an option to send an eviction notice to the White House!
Written in the spirit and style of our historic Declaration of Independence, this Declaration of Eviction will send a clear message to Congress: Listen to your constituents, OR GET EVICTED!
Here are the Nine Grievances we've listed in the Declaration of Eviction:
1.You have broken your contract with America by violating your oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States by expanding the powers of the Government in exchange for our God-given Liberties.
2.You have ignored the pleas of the majority of Americans by forcing a takeover of our private health care industry and exchanging it for a bureaucratic nightmare.
3.You are attempting to control our economy by empowering "Pay Czars" to regulate the income of workers.
4.You are increasing taxes on small business owners, the life blood of our free economy, while bailing out the banking industry.
5.You are overstepping your Constitutional Boundaries by agreeing with this present Administration to seize control of private industries, such as banking, automobile manufacturing, and health care.
6.You have jeopardized the international value of our currency with deficit spending.
7.You have failed to secure our national defense by refusing to tap the vast natural resources within our own borders and off our own shores.
8.You have punished citizens and private business establishments with further regulation with hysteria and false claims of "climate change".
9.You have borrowed against our children's future for political gain today
Each envelope will feature your name and address and be delivered directly to Congressional offices before they adjourn for the year. We even have an option to send an eviction notice to the White House! Both the front and back of the envelope read, "Eviction Notice Enclosed."
