Scary. When do we start standing up for ourselves and start to kick these elitists (both Demo and Repub) out of power? Our professional politicians have become an aristoracy that can be pandered to by special interests through lobbying and political activism. I am done with this elitist movement. We need an alternative to both parties and if it come from the Tea Party movement, then let's go.

I hope like hell that for-profit health insurance companies are completely and utterly destroyed. They have NO BUSINESS deciding what care we get, and taking all our money. What kind of idiot do you have to be to think that profit hungry corporations are good for our health? What kind of idiot do you have to be to think that paying tons of money to insurance companies that results in no benefit to the payer is good? What kind of idiot thinks that any American corporation has any concern whatsoever for any persons health? Why is it that EVERY other developed country has government controlled health care, and spends HALF as much money, with way better results? Why is it that the USA is ranked as having the poorest health care result in the developed world? I can’t believe you listen to corporations. When someone defends health insurance companies because a government plan would cost less, you gotta wonder what they are defending. Gee, I guess you WANT to pay enormous amounts of money to your insurance company for nothing? The rest of the world chooses NOT to pay insurance companies. They want good health care INSTEAD!

    P.S.

I used to be a republican. I became so ashamed, and discusted of the GOP, that I switched, and I would be proud except the Democrats sold out to special interests too. This country is screwed.

    Paul,

There are soooooo many problems with your conclusions.

First, you assume that government-run medicine is free. It isn't. It's extremely expensive.

Second, you assume government-run medicine provides better care than our private system. It doesn't.

Third, there are a few reasons for the difference in health care spending, including the fact that since we have a government program covering old people but not young (except for the young poor), it tends to overstate our cost (per patient.) Also, like it or not, we are funding a great percentage of drug development.

I don't know what business you're in, but you'd better be careful supporting the government destroying an industry because you never know when yours will be next.
