Did I call the end of Webb's chances too early

A poll released today has Jim Webb leading George Allen in Virginia...

I would still be surprised if Allen loses, though not hugely surprised as I expect this election to be very ugly for the GOP in general...uglier than most "pundits" seem to believe.

For the sake of my children and grandchildren, I certainly hope that George Allen wins in Virginia. The two major issues that concern me - safety (or as much as we can ever be assured) from jihadists and a stop to illegal immigration are both best addressed by Allen. Webb? Another Demoncrat? No way. The days of staying home, voting third party, cutting off one's nose to spite one's face - those days are over. Now we vote to protect our families, not from taxes or gay marriage or health costs, but from actual death and/or the death of the country as we knew it.
