Kaminsky vs. Hillman on the GOP and social issues
I was very pleased when the Rocky Mountain News contacted me for a "social libertarian" counter-point to an upcoming "Speakout" piece by my friend Mark Hillman.
The two pieces ran on Saturday, and you can read them both here:
First, Mark's view:
"HILLMAN: Republican tent broad enough for all on right"

And then my view:
"KAMINSKY: Get back to basics, Republicans, and drop most social issues"

The strange thing is that you and I differ on social issues, but we agree on the solution, and that should be the cornerstone of the Republican plank.
The place I'm in with respect to these issues, is that it's none of the Federal government's business. Regardless of how you might feel about abortion, for instance, we can agree Roe v. Wade was wrongly decided because the issue should be left in the states.
Freak.

Freak,
A statement almost exactly like the one you just made (about Roe v Wade) was in the original version of my article but I cut it out when I needed to get the article under 700 words.
One of the worst thing that happens with great regularity in and to this country is the destruction of federalism by making so many crimes and other issues federal ones even though there's no constitutional authority for them.
