Do you think if Charlie Wilson were a Republican, the film would have handled the subject matter in the same way, that is, with humor and with a heroic Wilson? Or would it have been handled with Charlie Wilson being a right-wing ideologe who blackmailed and with deceit, raised the money to fight the Soviets.

Jack,
That's a good question, although I should note that partisanship was a very minor part of the movie. It was really more about a congressman negotiating the political process rather than a Democrat trying to work with a Republican president or GOP congressmen, etc.
Still, you may be right that the script would have been different had he been a Republican....we'll never know.
As it stands, I'm just glad to see a movie that doesn't just try to make America look bad. Not that we're perfect, but we're generally not evil.
Thanks for reading and writing,
Ross

Ross, and others contributing to "Human Events". It is important you understand that the final in theaters "Charlie Wilson's War" ('CWW") movie was NOT the intended original movie to be released by Participant Productions, a George Soros Shadow Party ("SSP") organization. The intended original CWW movie was another anti-war and anti-Republican SSP hit job intended to help sway voters to elect a Democrat in 2008 for President who will stop our Middle East war and "cut and run" bring our troops home. Forty-two(42) minutes were cut from the original CWW movie, and other substantial modification, ONLY because of a Joanne Herring-Houston GOP heavyweights threatened lawsuit led by Tom DeLay's Houston attorney Dick DeGuerin. I located substantial information on this subject, which has been vetted, on this Free Republic thread:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1943083/posts
There is excellent and vital information within this thread, which has more than 290 posts since Dec. 21, 2007, on the CWW movie, the recent History Channel Charlie Wilson documentary, and the book. As other SSP Participant Productions movies, like Al Gore's fraudulent "An Inconvenient Truth" ('AIT"), the CWW movie is being used to solicit highly questionable donations to two SSP front operations. Full information is posted by the attorney that started the above Free Republic thread here:

The SSP uses "causes" such as CWW, AIT, and others, to obtain donations via their 501(C)(3) non-profit tax exempt t organizations so they don't have to FEC disclosure donations sources. They then illegally funnel the money to Democrat's campaigns and other George Soros and Shadow Party political interest. FrontPageMag.com has written investigative articles on this subject over the years. I don't know who this Free Republic "flattorney" is, but he is laser beam accurate on his CWW movie and SSP information, along with other Conservative Republican issues he has tackled. On down his Free Republic personal page, I loved it where he destroyed Al Gore and his AIT movie. Again with laser beam precision and well referenced.
Keep up the fantastic work! God Bless
