My letter to Connecticut's Governor Jodi Rell
Here is part of the text of an e-mail I received from the Institute for Justice's Castle Coalition, and the letter I wrote to Jodi Rell, Governor of Connecticut, in response:
Also, send an e-mail to Governor M. Jodi Rell urging her to intervene on behalf of Susette and her neighbors, as the Hartford-Courant editorial below calls for. She has the power to save the Fort Trumbull homes, and has said before that she is in favor of preserving the homes and letting the development go on around them. You can send an e-mail to the Governor through this link: https://action.popuvox.com/default.aspx?actionID=268.
Together, we can help keep Susette Kelo and her neighbors in their homes, where they belong!
P.S. Help the Castle Coalition grow! Forward this message to your friends. They can sign-up here: http://www.castlecoalition.org/join/index.html.
Dear Governor Rell,
It needs no repeating, but deserves it anyway: The Supreme Court Kelo decision was a travesty, a disgraceful abandonment of the Constitution, obviously wrong, and one of the gravest threats I have ever seen to the basic foundation of American life: one's home.
I urge you to use every official power, every bit of moral suasion, and any other method you can think of that is not illegal to save Ms. Kelo from the rapacious city council and their devilish alliance with land-grabbing developers.
I am an ardent capitalist. I have nothing against big business, land developers, etc. But business is done by handshake, not at the point of a gun. What is happening to Suzette Kelo is simply theft. You, as the highest state official in Connecticut owe it to her to defend her from the criminals even if those criminals were also elected.
I hope you take strong action; I am sure you will be well-rewarded in your political future if you do.
