While it's not exactly "news", it's unfortunate that the left wing of American politics finds it appropriate at this time to demonstrate their bitter, hateful, repugnant views of their country, their government, and by implication their fellow Americans.

Here are some of the lowlights posted by people whom I am embarrassed to number among my countrymen:

From DailyKos:

"As for Rhenquist, good fucking riddance. May his filthy soul pass Goldwater in Purgatory on his way down to Hell."

"Seriously, does anyone doubt Bush will appoint another nuckle-dragging "religious" NeoCon corporate stooge in the mold of John Roberts to replace Rhenquist (who was no prize himself)?"

From DemocraticUnderground.com:

"This is not such a bad thing....better he die before the Johnny Bob Taliban hearings, right?"

"The Repukes have been circling him like vultures since his cancer.
They are gonna want a neo-Nazi to fill the vacancy before Rehnquist is cold."

From AmericaBlog:

"If they have a "mass grave" I hope they toss him into it!"

From huffingtonpost.com:

"Good another white bastard is dead"

"I have Rehnquist down here in hell right now. He's being sodomized by angry bull elephants and we're pushing his face down into a bucket of shit. He'll be treated to this for a million years or so, just to soften him up, and then the real fun begins."

As I wander through these rantings of "liberals" responding to the news of William Rehnquist's death, it becomes all the more clear to me why Democrats keep losing. (I put "liberals" in quotes because those whom we call "liberals" today are far from what the word has historically meant.)

However, given the political damage to the President and by association other Republicans, from the handling of Hurricane Katrina, the Democrats may have a chance in 2006 elections despite themselves. (I'll write more on that subject in coming days.)

Republicans should take heed, if they haven't already, of the disgusting rhetoric to which leftists will sink in pursuit of their hate-filled, anti-American, and thoroughly socialist agenda. The Democrats are more motivated than usual and have better financial support through activist groups than usual. The Republicans must take the threat seriously or face results on a national level similar to what we suffered in Colorado in 2004 (when well-organized and well-funded Democrats took control of both houses of the state legislature for the first time in 44 years.)

On a personal note, I'd like to point out that I am NOT a partisan Republican. There is a lot about the Party leadership, about our President, and about certain activists that I don't like. I voted Libertarian, not for W or any other Republican in the last several Presidential elections. (I consider myself essentially libertarian, but I have substantial disagreement with the Libertarian Party on the issue of immigration and borders.)

So I don't love the Republicans. But, I would simply be embarrassed to be a Democrat or to support a Democrat if doing so includes slandering the dead or accepting that doing so is OK. Yes, there are some people I would speak ill of moments after they died just as I do while they're alive, such as Robert Mugabe, Osama bin Laden, the terrorists of Beslan, etc. These men are genocidal murderers. Yet one "liberal" after another...and they're the group who claims to be so tolerant...speaks worse of a great American who served on our highest court for 33 years than they would of these villains.

Let me say directly to those who posted the comments above: You make me sick and you should be ashamed of yourselves.

Let me say to Republicans, Libertarians, and American patriots: Take heed of the true nature of the Democrats, or at least a particular wing of the Party. To call them the "loyal opposition" understimates their hatred of their own country, their lack of respect of our founding principles, and the energy they will expend on their destructive and repugnant agenda for which the Russians and Chinese killed millions of their own en route to being proved wrong.
