Not even 48 hours after my state Representative, Claire Levy, sent me a long explanation of her support for HB1299 which would nearly eliminate the important of small (and small-ish) states like Colorado in Presidential elections, Mrs. Levy has not only deleted that same note from her web site’s home page, but she also moved the link for her “National Popular Vote” issue off her home page to a small link at the bottom of her “About Claire” page, not even on the “current issues page".

What courage!

Could it be the uniformly anti-HB1299 comments I’ve received on the web sites where I posted Mrs. Levy’s explanation? (She specifically asked that her note be made public.) Could it be the rhetorical spanking she, or more generally people who believe what she does, took from Mike Rosen (and me) when I spoke with him about it on the air?

You can hear that 9 minutes or so of radio here:

Could it be how self-incriminating (in terms of what should be disqualifying her from office) Mrs. Levy’s last sentence to me was, in which she said the current Electoral College system is based on “an unfounded notion of federalism"?

If James Madison were alive today, he’d be restraining an intense urge to slap Mrs. Levy and ask her how she can in good conscience serve in any aspect of government, how she could make such a dangerous and ignorant statement while still feeling qualified to take an oath to “support the Constitution of the United States"?

I wasn’t angry with Rep. Levy’s support for a bad idea any more than I’d be angry with a puppy for peeing on the floor. She’s a liberal and can’t help it. But I became (and remain) quite upset indeed when she stated that the absolutely fundamental premise of this country’s system of government, federalism, is somehow “unfounded".

I wonder if she’s heard from other constituents about her muddle-headed position. And, since I tried to get her note and my response distributed among some members of the State Legislature, I wonder if the Democratic leadership at the state capitol heard about it and told her that she was damaging their cause by showing the real mindset and anti-American views of those who support effectively eliminating the Electoral College.

I don’t want to give myself credit where there’s no way to know if credit is due. But I certainly hope that I’ve been the cause of some discomfort for Mrs. Levy on this issue and the reason she decided to remove all reference to the issue from her web page.

Rep. Levy has a whole page dedicated to the National Popular Vote currently on her website. It is available here:
