Why GOP voters will (should?) stay home

My letter to the editor of the Washington Times regarding an interesting combination of headlines last week was printed on Sunday. Per my agreement with the Times, I won't publish the text here for several days, but you can read the letter at their web site:

The articles I was responding to are:
"Democrats would reverse Bush's work" and "Conservative voters likely to stay home."

Ross, still pessimistic I see. Staying home is the equivalent of voitng for a liberal Democrat. Why on earth would any committed conservative want to put liberals in charge? Do you really beieve the country will be better off with the Left-wing agenda being pushed through Congress? Anyone who cares about our country, forget partisan politics, cannot possibly want Pelosi and gang in charge. To risk such a calamity is not only irresponsible. It is plain dumb. Conservatives are not dumb!

    Ross,

I am optimistic that both houses will stay in Republican hands.

Actually it is only hope. Optimism says that we will actually increase our majorities when the votes are counted!

Seriously though, I have a hard time accepting that the voters who were intelligent enough to choose Bush over Kerry/Gore are not intelligent enough to understand the threat incurred by handing control to the Democrats.
